The conquerors and missionaries brought vine to Mexico. It was until 1522 when the planting and production of the wine began. -
1683
The Jesuit Eusebio Francisco Quino arrived in Baja California. The friars planted the mission grape, it is believed that in 1707 the first harvest was made in Baja California. -

President Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna authorized the opening of the agricultural school where they taught the cultivation and management of the vine. -
1948
At the initiative of Don Nazario Ortiz Garza, the National Winegrowers Association (ANV) was officially created in Aguascalientes. -
1964
Productos de Uva de Aguascalientes known today as Valle Redondo, was founded. -
1970
Mexico joined the International Office of Vine and Wine, now the International Organization of Vine and Wine (OIV). -
1980
The seventieth General Wine Assembly of the OIV was held in Mexico. -

The Mexican Association of Sommeliers was founded. -

The national committee Sistema Producto Uva was created. -

The Mexican Vitiviniculture Council A.C. was created, merging the Nacional Association of Winegrowers, A.C. and the CNSPU. In addition, Mexico step out from the OID. -

Mr. Daniel Milmo Brittingham is elected president of the CMV. -
2016
At the national fair of San Marcos, Aguascalientes, the largest tasting in the world takes place. Mexico re-entered the International Organization of Vine and Wine. -
2018
The 70th anniversary of the Mexican Vitiviniculture Council was celebrated and the collective brand of Mexican wine was promoted. On May 23, the law to promote the winegrowing industry is promulgated.

Mr. Hans Backhoff is elected president of the CMV. -

CMV receives the official document of the Collective Brand of Mexican Wine, before the IMPI. -

The federal government published in the Official Journal of the Federation (DOF) the decree of the National Day of Mexican Wine, which will be celebrated on October 7 of each year. This appointment arises as a recognition of the Mexican wine industry, the second source of employment in the agricultural sector.
